As a self-proclaimed chameleon, I have dedicated my life to honing my skills on horn to fit into any ensemble. Throughout my studies, I have performed in a variety of ensembles ranging from standards such as wind ensemble, orchestra, and chamber groups to the more obscure such as baroque chamber music, jazz, and film recording orchestras. Not only have I explored French horn stylistically in all forms, but also all physical forms through performing in various ensembles on natural horn and Wagner tuba.
My passion for adaptability comes from my love of collaboration with other musicians and artists. Through my studies at both the Eastman School of Music and University of North Texas, I have had the opportunity to perform with musicians from around the world. I love the opportunity to sit in with a new group and find what type of puzzle piece I need to be to complete the picture. This mindset of smaller pieces coming together to create a large whole continues outside of music with my love or creating art from filling pages with small colorful triangles often gifted to friends and colleagues. As life mimics art, I would much rather perform in the middle of an ensemble and be the piece of a larger whole than performing alone.
My fascination with instrumental music came from film scores, in which horn is often a feature. I became mesmerized by how different musical statements and instruments portray specific moods. The mixing and melding is what I look for both as a performer and an audience member and has made it my mission to share this perspective with the world.
I completed my undergraduate degree in horn performance at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Peter Kurau and am currently pursuing a Master of Music in horn performance at the University of North Texas with Stacie Mickens. I have had to opportunity to perform in masterclasses and summer festivals for notable horn players such as William VerMeulen, J. G. Miller, Denise Tryon, Juan Berrios, and Chris Castellanos.
